The technology has today redefined our workplaces. These days, Sidra logs in to work from Lucknow as Sivaram submits his assignment online from a remote village in Tamil Nadu, while Nancy attends a video conference from her Meghalaya home. Who says technology drifts us apart? It allows us to connect from one location – our location!

Isn’t it amazing to realize how workspaces have transitioned online? Today, the induction process has become digital, and so has the hiring. A new joinee connects with his colleague sitting miles away to get the download and collaborates virtually to begin his first assignment. One would have never imagined how cloud-based applications could seamlessly unify the workforce – a feat, even offline mode faced challenges in achieving. In fact, many prominent organizations have green signalled their employees to embrace remote working indefinitely. Twitter announced first. Shopify and Facebook, among others, soon joined the bandwagon.

Changing Paradigm: Rethinking Efficient Approaches

Modern technology works in numerous and unimaginable ways. It simplifies the task and benefits all its stakeholders. Today, office-centricity is no more crucial to productivity. For employees, the remote work model renders a time-efficient approach. For businesses, it earns brownie points for being a cost-effective solution.

Firm owners are also saving considerably on electricity bills as the workforce operates from their homes, uninterrupted. Soon, they might even do away with their physical workplace altogether, thereby also saving on their rental expenses.

With developments such as these, the demand for digital solutions has gone beyond secure video conferencing. It will move past the need for peer-to-peer engagement tools to remote access and remote IT security solutions. Organizations must deploy flexible and reliable solutions that provide remote access to troubleshoot any issues that erupt at the user’s end. For instance, restaurant owners wanting to access their on-premise scheduling software remotely will be able to do so using LogMeIn Pro.

Similarly, security is a major issue, especially when employees work remotely and so, companies need to consider and provide password management tools and policies to reduce the risk of the data breach.

There are many issues that organizations need to consider now for employees to be able to work from anywhere while retaining the security and allowing IT teams to administer updates and provide help remotely to deal with new issues during these changing times. The home working environment is a lot different than the old office environment, so the future of an enterprise’s security means being able to change and adapt to this new normal.
