Bengaluru, March 24, 2026: Infosys has extended its strategic collaboration with the University of Nottingham to support the university’s Student Management System and modernise its digital services across campuses in the UK, Malaysia and China. The company said the work will use Infosys Cobalt and Infosys Topaz Fabric to improve cloud capabilities, security compliance and the reliability of core student-facing systems. The university, which ranks among the top 100 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026, said the arrangement is aimed at strengthening the digital backbone behind admissions, administration and the wider student journey.
The latest phase builds on a partnership that began in 2017, when the University of Nottingham first appointed Infosys to provide managed services for Oracle Campus Solutions, its student management platform. At that time, the university said Campus Solutions would create a single system across its international campuses and support more joined-up management for students and administrators. Infosys said the earlier transformation helped reduce incident volumes by 70 per cent, improved system availability and performance by about 30 per cent, and cut infrastructure costs by more than 35 per cent.
Under the new collaboration, Infosys said it will continue maintaining NottinghamHub, the university’s Student Information System, while also modernising infrastructure to improve application availability and strengthen web security through multi-factor authentication. The company said the work is intended to support key student lifecycle processes and make the underlying systems more resilient for a university with about 46,000 students and 12,000 staff. That scale matters because student records platforms are no longer simple back-office tools; they sit at the centre of enrolment, finance, academic administration and service delivery.
The technology stack behind the project is also notable. Infosys Cobalt is the company’s cloud services and platform layer, while Topaz Fabric is its agentic AI-oriented suite that connects infrastructure, models, data, applications and workflows. In practical terms, Infosys is presenting the university work as a mix of cloud consolidation, automation and AI-enabled process design rather than a narrow software upgrade. That is an important distinction in higher education, where digital transformation usually succeeds only when the platform, governance and day-to-day operations change together.
Ashiss Kumar Dash, EVP & Global Head – Services, Utilities, Resources, Energy, and Enterprise Sustainability, Infosys, said, “We are excited to deepen our collaboration with the University of Nottingham to tackle some of the most pressing challenges facing the education sector today. From navigating the complexities of global campuses to meeting the evolving expectations of digitally native students, universities must embrace innovation to stay ahead. Through this collaboration, powered by Infosys Cobalt and Infosys Topaz Fabric, we are enabling the University of Nottingham to set new benchmarks for how technology can empower higher educational institutions to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”
Chris Hunt, Chief Operating Officer, University of Nottingham, said, “Collaborating with Infosys empowers the University of Nottingham to set new benchmarks in higher education. Our Student Management System is one of the most critical components of the university’s operations, supporting every stage of the student journey. Our embedded partnership with Infosys will help us strengthen our core services, accelerate innovation, and enhance the reliability and security of our digital ecosystem. By integrating cutting-edge digital solutions, we are not only enriching the student journey but also redefining what it means to be a leader in global academia”.
Jo Simpson, Chief Revenue Officer, University of Nottingham, said, “Enhancing our strategic partnership with Infosys will strengthen both our digital infrastructure and our ability to deliver new, high-value experiences for our students. The strong alignment between Infosys’ industry expertise and our applied learning programmes creates exciting opportunities to deepen industry-connected learning and introduce new forms of support that will help our students perform at the highest level. This collaboration will enable our students to access the skills and real-world experience that are shaping the future of engineering and digital technology.”
