Sarvam AI to raise about $74 million in an extension of its ongoing Series B round, with NVIDIA expected to lead the tranche, according to media reports and filings. This funding round is an extension of the company’s June fundraising, when Sarvam announced a $234 million first close at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation.
Sarvam is one of India’s better-known sovereign AI startups, and this reported extension would bring in a major strategic backer in NVIDIA. Entrackr also reported that the round is expected to include Glade Brook Capital, Gaja Capital, Indigo Ventures and other investors alongside NVIDIA.
In June, HCLTech invested ₹14.27 billion ($150.7 million) for a 10.5% stake, leading Sarvam’s Series B first close, and that the round had reached $234 million toward a target of $300 million.
NVIDIA’s participation will give this a different tone from a normal venture top-up. Sarvam is not a generic software startup; it is India’s full-stack sovereign AI platform, with products for speech-to-text, text-to-speech, translation and dialogue agents across 22 Indian languages. A strategic investor like NVIDIA signals interest not only in equity upside but also in the compute and infrastructure layer behind model development.

Sarvam’s June Series B announcement said the money would fund additional research on its next frontier model for agentic, coding and cybersecurity use cases, plus access to compute at scale and expansion of its forward-deployed motion across key verticals. HCLTech’s investment was tied to next-generation models, language models for clients and sovereign AI solutions for governments and regulated industries. Those are the clearest public statements on where the money is meant to go.
Sarvam is to raise $74 million in a Series B extension, following the $234 million first close announced in June. The company’s valuation is being described in the market at roughly $1.5 billion to $1.51 billion, depending on the report cited.
Sarvam is still in the middle of building out its capital base for a heavier AI workload. The company is spending on model research and compute, not just sales or expansion.
Sarvam’s first close came with HCLTech as a lead strategic investor. A second strategic lead in the same round, this time NVIDIA, suggests the company is pulling both domestic enterprise backing and global AI infrastructure interest.
