MUMBAI | May 02, 2025: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and IBM are joining hands to boost India’s quantum tech industry as part of the Government of Andhra Pradesh’s new, first-of-a-kind Quantum Valley Tech Park, currently being built in the capital city of Amaravati. The tech park will be anchored by an IBM Quantum System Two installation, with a 156-qubit Heron quantum processor, the largest quantum computer in India. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is partnering with IBM to support the development of algorithms and applications that will help the Indian industry and academia solve some of the nation’s most complex challenges. The Government of Andhra Pradesh, IBM and TCS hope to accelerate the development of India’s quantum ecosystem through this initiative.

N. Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, said, “Our goal is for India to become a leading country in quantum technology. Andhra Pradesh wants to be the first state in the world to have a real Quantum Valley, which will be important for its economy. Quantum computing is expected to change many industries in the next 25 years, and we want to be pioneers in using this new technology. With IBM, TCS, and other partners, the Quantum Valley Tech Park will help India’s industry and schools make big advancements.”

Jay Gambetta, Vice President of IBM Quantum, said, “We are thrilled about our plans with Andhra Pradesh to set up our latest quantum computer at the Quantum Valley Tech Park. Our teamwork with TCS will help gather developers, scientists, and experts to create new software and applications. If we work together with India’s National Quantum Mission, we can achieve a big milestone – showing that quantum computing can provide real advantages.”

Members at the Quantum Valley Tech Park will have the chance to work with TCS and use IBM’s cloud-based quantum computers. After the tech park is completed, it will include access to the IBM Quantum System Two with the 156-qubit Heron processor.

Dr. Harrick Vin, the Chief Technology Officer at TCS, mentioned, “To solve really hard computing problems, we need hybrid systems that combine different types of computers, including quantum ones. TCS’s strategy is to create special software that smartly divides tasks among different computers. We are excited to partner with IBM and the Government of Andhra Pradesh at the Quantum Valley Tech Park to support India’s National Quantum Mission. We aim to develop quantum solutions to challenging problems that can lead to economic growth and new technology.”

The government of Andhra Pradesh plans to build a strong quantum technology community through research, access to quantum computers, and practical industry uses. They want to create high-quality jobs, attract talented people, and bring in global investments.
