India Cyber Report

At the 19th NASSCOM-DSCI Annual Information Security Summit (AISS) 2025, Seqrite, the enterprise division of Quick Heal Technologies Limited, announced significant advancements in cybersecurity. Seqrite also unveils the ‘India Cyber Threat Report 2025’, a comprehensive study conducted in collaboration with the Data Security Council of India (DSCI).

This report provides an in-depth analysis of the current cybersecurity landscape in India, revealing alarming statistics and trends.

The report highlights a surprising 369 million malware detections within an installation base of 8.44 million, illustrating the magnitude and persistence of cyber threats.

85.44% of detections were based on signature recognition methods, while 14.56% employed behavior-based detection, underscoring a pressing need for more adaptive security mechanisms.

The report details malware subcategories, with Trojans constituting 43.38% of all detections and Infectors at 34.23%.

Android security assessments revealed a troubling breakdown of threats, where malware accounted for 42% of detections, and Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) followed closely at 32%.

Adware made up 26% of the Android threat landscape. Additionally, the report provides a geographic overview of malware activity, identifying Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Delhi as the regions most heavily impacted while revealing that BFSI, Healthcare, and Hospitality sectors were particularly vulnerable to cybercriminals.

In conjunction with the report, Seqrite launched the Seqrite Malware Analysis Platform (SMAP), an advanced tool designed to equip cybersecurity professionals with comprehensive insights into suspicious files and URLs that might bypass traditional detection capabilities.

SMAP features robust analysis capabilities through layers of examination conducted in isolated virtual environments, ensuring a thorough and secure evaluation of malware behavior.

Equipped with advanced sandboxing technology, real-time behavioral assessment, and seamless integration into existing security infrastructures such as SIEM, SOAR, and EDR/XDR platforms, SMAP enhances threat analysis efficiency significantly.

Furthermore, Seqrite introduced Seqrite Threat Intel, a proactive Cyber Defense Hub powered by Seqrite Labs, India’s largest malware analysis facility. This initiative aims to deliver extensive threat intelligence derived from a variety of sources, including open-source intelligence (OSINT) and Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs).

By leveraging the insights generated from Seqrite’s extensive network of 8.44 million endpoints, Threat Intel will offer real-time situational awareness and industry-specific contextualization of threats, facilitating proactive detection and remediation of potential security incidents.
