Salesforce has announced two new members to its board of directors, effective immediately: Amy Chang, a technology executive, AI entrepreneur, and advisor, and David Kirk, a computer scientist and former chief scientist at NVIDIA.
Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, shared his excitement about welcoming Amy and David. He believes their strong backgrounds in technology and innovation will help Salesforce make the most of human-AI teamwork and improve services for their customers.
He added that having Amy and David on the board is a major step toward creating an even more innovative and skilled leadership team at Salesforce. He is very optimistic about the future ahead.
Arnold Donald, the Lead Independent Director at Salesforce, mentioned that the company is careful when choosing board members to ensure they possess the right skills to guide the company through significant changes. He believes Amy and David’s technical knowledge will be crucial in helping Salesforce shape its strategy during this exciting time when AI is changing how businesses operate. He is confident that their ideas will support the company’s goals and create value for everyone involved.
About Amy Chang: Amy Chang is currently on the Board of Directors for The Walt Disney Company and Procter & Gamble, and she also leads their Innovation and Technology Committee. She has been part of other boards like Cisco and Splunk. Before this, she worked at Cisco, where she managed a large part of their business focused on collaboration tools such as videoconferencing and cloud calling. This followed the acquisition of her startup, Accompany, which used AI to help businesses make better connections.
Amy also spent over seven years at Google, focusing on services like Google Analytics and helping it grow to serve a big part of the internet. She has experience in product strategy at eBay and has worked in the technology industry with companies like AMD and Intel. In addition, she is involved in other important committees and advises several startups focused on AI. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
About David B. Kirk: David B. Kirk is a consultant, investor, and advisor who is also involved with nonprofit organizations. Recently, he has been focusing on teaching computer science and advancing technology in areas like robotics and AI. David was a key figure at NVIDIA, where he served as Chief Scientist and made significant contributions to graphics technology and computer hardware.
He holds around 100 patents related to these areas. In 2002, he received an award for his achievements in computer graphics and was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2006. He also received a Distinguished Alumni Award from Caltech in 2009. David earned his Ph.D. and Master’s degrees in Computer Science from Caltech and also has Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MIT.
