4G technology has already transformed India’s digital world to a great level. With the continuous rule of 4G, India is all set to experience the new 5G network. This revolutionary launch will begin the high-speed mobile internet services in the country. 5G spectrum will likely roll out the service as early as October 2022. Allocation of Spectrum worth Rs. 1.50 lakh crore has taken place. Jio successfully got first place in getting the spectrum and gained airwaves worth Rs. 87 thousand crores.

In 2021, three telecom leaders, Airtel, VodafoneIdea, and Reliance Jio in collaboration with several organizations, carried out their 5G network trials. These companies have also established trial sites in Delhi, Bengaluru, Gurugram, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jamnanagar, Chennai, Lucknow, Gandhinagar, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Previously it was expected that the 5G network might be launched by the end of this year. However, now Ashwini Vaishna, the Minister of Electronics and IT has confirmed in an Interview that 5G will be set to use in India in March 2023.

Among VodafoneIdea, Airtel, and Reliance Jio, it is a bit hectic to guess which one of these will first let its customers experience this 5G service. But yes, all of these will most probably be launching the services around a similar time. This is because they all carried out trials in 2021. The 5G spectrum will be rolled out in 13 different cities in India, including the above-discussed trials cities.

The enhanced speed that matters most

Most people in India are interested in utilizing this latest technology. According to a survey by Ookla, the renowned internet speed tracker website, around 89% of the Indians have shown their desire to upgrade to a 5G network. However, they have also expressed the desire for it at affordable prices. But VodafoneIdea has already indicated that 5G services will be slightly expensive.

In addition, 48% of people in this survey said they want to enjoy the advantages of the 5G network as soon as possible. Whereas 20% have said, they are waiting for their service providers to upgrade their plans to 5G.

Most people think that the 5G network will offer a far better speed which is currently possible only with fiber lane or broadband. Around 42% feel that they will get exceptionally faster speed and the various internet services will also be better. 7% of users are waiting for their current plans to expire. People who are unaware of the 5G technology will probably wait to see other people’s responses when they start using it. In addition to this only 2% of the people don’t want to upgrade to the 5G network. 24% require a more reliable connection, whereas around 21% need better indoor coverage.

This survey report shows that most people in India eagerly await this new spectrum launch. And the main reason for this eagerness is expectations of higher speed than the current 4G network. People expect that after the 5G launch, video streaming, download speed, and mobile gaming experiences are going to improve to a great extent.

Indian mobile market has also prepared for the upcoming 5G launch. There are already a bunch of 5G smartphones available in the market. So the only thing required is the 5G technology launch to experience the new generation of mobile internet connections.

Video streaming and gaming are on the top agenda.

People related to video streaming and mobile gaming have more expectations from the 5G launch than anyone else. Telecom leaders also have these people on the top of their 5G launch agenda. This technology will take digital streamers and mobile gamers to the next higher level.

The 5G network is expected to offer ultra-fast and low-latency download speed. This will help video-on-demand users enjoy live streaming without buffering. In addition, this 5G technology gives access to a network with a bandwidth of over 1GHz. This makes video streaming much more enjoyable and faster on any 5G smartphone. It is also expected that 5G technology will offer extended reach. It implies that telecom carriers can expand to even remote areas where they are currently unreachable.

When talking about gaming, the 5G network enables professional gamers to maintain a stable and faster network. This network connection is crucial for an immersive and seamless mobile gaming experience. It is expected that gamers can enjoy uninterrupted and smooth gameplay. With 5G gamers can even enjoy games on cloud storage without any effect on the gaming experience. This lets gamers save storage space on gaming consoles, mobiles, or PCs. Another major issue that gamers currently face is updating video games. Even 5-10MB updates take a lot of time. With 5G all such updates will be a matter of a few seconds.
