Qualcomm and Xiaomi Celebrate 15 Years of Innovation with New Long-Term Partnership

Qualcomm Technologies and Xiaomi Corporation are celebrating 15 years of working together. They have signed a new agreement for multiple years. This partnership has been pivotal for bringing new ideas and technologies to life, and both companies aim to create great products for people worldwide.

“Qualcomm Technologies has been a trusted partner for Xiaomi, helping us grow from a small startup to a big technology leader. We are excited to continue our partnership for the next 15 years, using Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon® technology to create even better products for our customers,” said Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi.

“Together, we have made amazing products that lead the way in the smartphone industry,” said Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated. “We appreciate the strong relationship we have built over 15 years and look forward to continuing to work together. Snapdragon technology will continue to power Xiaomi’s premium smartphones, and we are excited to explore new areas like cars, smart home devices, wearables, and virtual reality glasses.”

Ongoing Partnership

The new agreement between Qualcomm and Xiaomi focuses on creating high-quality smartphones around the world. Xiaomi’s premium smartphones will keep using the Snapdragon 8-series technology for many more generations. This year, Xiaomi will be one of the first companies to use the next-generation Snapdragon 8-series.

Both companies plan to work on exciting advancements in artificial intelligence and other technologies for devices like smartphones, cars, wearables, and tablets.

15 Years of Working Together

Over the last 15 years, millions of Xiaomi products have used Snapdragon technology, showing the success of their partnership:

Smartphones: Qualcomm has been key for Xiaomi since the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 1 smartphone in 2011, helping them become the third-largest smartphone brand in the world. For the last decade, Snapdragon has powered Xiaomi’s top smartphones, giving users great performance. Recently, Xiaomi launched the Mi 15 series, which is very successful and features the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the fastest chip for mobile devices.

Automotive: When Xiaomi launched its first vehicle in 2023, it chose Qualcomm Technologies’ next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform to power the SU7’s smart cabin, offering sophisticated and intuitive in-vehicle experiences with advanced graphics, multimedia, and AI. The SU7 also uses the Snapdragon Auto 5G Modem-RF solution for high-performance processing, precise positioning, and low-latency connectivity, offering safety-rich and immersive connected experiences.

Smart Home Products: Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi technology, including the new Wi-Fi 7, helps Xiaomi create faster and more reliable connected devices, keeping them at the forefront of the industry.

Wearables: Their collaboration extends to wearables too, including earbuds and smartwatches that use Snapdragon technology. For example, the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro series use the Snapdragon S7 and S7+ Sound Platform, and the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro uses the Snapdragon W5+ Wearable Platform.
