Microsoft Cloud’s outage has impacted millions of computer systems around the world. Users have experienced unexpected system shutdowns or reboots. Microsoft said this outage was due to an update from CrowdStrike.
The global outage was caused by the third-party update, which disrupted critical IT infrastructure and forced airports to switch to manual operations, impacting air traffic. Major banks, media outlets, and airlines were also affected. Payment systems were disrupted in various parts of the world, including Australia and the UK.
Microsoft acknowledged the outage, a spokesperson said, “We’re aware of an issue affecting Windows devices due to an update from a third-party software platform. We anticipate a resolution is forthcoming.”
CrowdStrike Engineering found a content deployment connected to this issue and rolled back those changes. The organization published instructions for resolving the issue for impacted Windows users.
