New Delhi, October 14, 2025. Bharti Airtel has partnered with Google to build India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

This initiative aims to encourage the use of AI in India, enhance the country’s digital infrastructure, and bring Google’s AI services to Indian businesses.

The AI hub in Visakhapatnam is a major investment of about $15 billion over five years (from 2026 to 2030). It will include large data centers supported by a strong underwater network and clean energy sources to handle complex AI tasks in India. This project will be developed in partnership with other organizations like AdaniConneX.

Airtel and Google will work together to build a data center in Visakhapatnam and a modern Cable Landing Station (CLS) that will link to new international underwater cables from Google.

Airtel will also create a strong network of fibre connections within and between cities as part of this plan. This network will be fast and reliable, providing better experiences for Google users, improving India’s digital strength, and helping more people and businesses benefit from AI across the country.

Gopal Vittal, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bharti Airtel, said, “This partnership with Google is a key moment for India’s digital future. By bringing together top-quality AI technology and our talented workforce, we are preparing India to be a leader in the AI age. With Visakhapatnam becoming an important center for AI, we are ensuring that India can drive innovation, inclusivity, and economic growth for everyone, not just for our country but for the entire world.”

Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud, said, “To meet India’s AI goals, we need advanced technology, strong computing power, and reliable connections. By working with Airtel, we will provide the new AI services needed and create the digital infrastructure necessary for inclusive growth throughout India.”
