Employee’s dedication and involvement in the ongoing processes greatly impact their performance. According to the Gartner survey, employees who work in human-centric environments are 3.8 times more productive. In a human-centric model where employees are not considered just as resources.
Organizations refer to their employees by different-different terms like staff, talent, employees, or resources. However, many corporate executives do not feel confident calling humans resources. Moreover, companies follow different work models for their employees due to the pandemic outbreak. Work from offices becomes work from home, and a then hybrid work approach seems convincing.
The human-centric approach encompasses three guiding pillars: flexible work experiences, intentional collaboration, and empathy-based management.
“To gain competitive advantage, organizations must go beyond location flexibility and place human beings at the center of work, rather than treating them as secondary components of their work environment.” said Graham Waller VP, Gartner Executive Leadership practice.
In addition to enhanced employees performance, the survey data showed other benefits of human-centric work models, it includes
- 3.2 times more likely to enjoy high intent to stay
- 3.1 times more likely to see low levels of fatigue
The survey also saw that intentional collaboration boosts the likelihood of increased employee performance by 2.9 times, compared with just 1.6 times for even the best-performing location model.
“Location-centric work designs are often rigid, which amplifies fatigue, degrades performance and drives employees away,” said Brent Cassell, vice president in the Gartner HR practice. “Leading organizations are designing workflows, work rituals and workplaces around holistic human needs – physical, cognitive, emotional – rather than forcing individuals to conform to legacy practices.”
Survey shows employee’s performance enhances when they work in flexible work experiences, intentional cooperation, and with empathy.
