Thales, a company known for advanced technology, collaborates with Cubic, a company that provides software solutions for vehicles to make connectivity management easier. By using Thales’s eSIM management platform, Cubic will improve its eSIM solutions to meet the latest GSMA standards. This will help ensure smooth global connections in the automotive, transportation, and agriculture industries.

The new GSMA SGP.32 standard for the Internet of Things (IoT) is very important, it sets out key technical and business needs for managing eSIMs, including better security, compatibility between different devices and network operators, and the ability to handle large-scale deployments. This new guideline is crucial for using eSIM technology widely across many devices, which helps to provide smart and easy connectivity management.

This partnership brings Thales’s eSIM management platform, which follows the GSMA SGP.32 standard, into Cubic’s existing system that supports many networks around the world. This change will make it easier to deploy eSIMs in more than 200 countries. It allows for automatic activation and updates of subscriptions without needing manual work, physical SIM replacements, or recalls of devices.

“Thales has been a trusted partner of Cubic since 2017,” said Nick Power, CTO at Cubic. “For OEMs, adopting GSMA M2M eSIM has been anything but simple. Technical complexity, vendor lock-in, and managing multi-MNO connectivity at a global scale have all slowed adoption. Transitioning to a leaner, more efficient GSMA eSIM IoT architecture will be essential. This collaboration highlights our commitment to standardisation, interoperability and innovation ensuring Cubic customers can enjoy a more flexible, cost efficient and a future-proof approach to global connectivity.”

“With this upgrade, Cubic aims to remain at the forefront of IoT connectivity by addressing evolving market demands. The integration of Thales’s “On-Demand Subscription Manager” platform will enable Cubic to maximize end-to-end connectivity management for OEMs, ensuring devices are seamlessly connected from factory to field,” said Eva Rudin, VP Mobile Connectivity Solutions at Thales. “This collaboration highlights our commitment to standardization, interoperability, and innovation for IoT.”
