HPE has appointed Phil Mottram as the new Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer, starting on November 1, 2025. In this position, he will manage HPE’s global sales teams.
Phil Mottram has been with HPE since 2019 and has held major roles, including leading HPE’s networking business for four years. Before this new role, Mottram was the Executive Vice President of Growth Markets and had four years as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of HPE Aruba Networking.
He has over 30 years of experience in technology, working in sales leadership positions in Europe, the U.S., and Asia.
Antonio Neri, the President and CEO of HPE, said, “Phil Mottram is a great choice for this position because he understands what customers need, works well with others, has a global view, and knows how to drive growth. His experience in HPE Aruba Networking will help connect all areas of HPE.”
Phil Mottram has led business changes for many big companies in telecommunications and IT. He started his career in sales at AT&T and later worked in sales leadership at other companies like Sprint, BT, and Telstra, before moving to business leadership roles at CSL, Vodafone, and Zayo.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Lincoln in the UK. He also enjoys participating in triathlons for charity, including events like the IRONMAN World Championship in Hawaii, IRONMAN Austria, and Escape from Alcatraz in San Francisco. Phil will take over the sales leadership role from Heiko Meyer, who is retiring after 38 years at the company.
Neri mentioned that Meyer led a major transformation in HPE’s sales approach, helping customers connect better with HPE’s solutions, which helped gain market share. Meyer said, “I joined HP in 1984 as a student in Germany and felt a strong connection to the company’s values of performance, customer service, and community support. Leading Global Sales has been a highlight of my career as I’ve had the chance to meet customers and team members from around the world. Now I look forward to spending more time with my family in the U.S. and Germany.”
