LG Electronics (LG) is enhancing its cybersecurity capabilities for connected devices in response to advancements in AI and the widespread adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT).
LG’s SW Testing Laboratory has recently achieved accreditation for performing cybersecurity assessments on IoT devices from the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS), a part of the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS).
This accreditation is recognized globally through the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC-MRA), ensuring that test reports generated by LG’s SW Testing Laboratory — which assess compliance with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute’s (ETSI) IoT cybersecurity standards (EN 303 64511 and TS 103 70122) — are held to the same standards as those from accredited laboratories in over 100 jurisdictions worldwide, including the U.S. and Japan.
By acquiring the capability to internally test the cybersecurity of its products, LG will significantly reduce both the cost and time needed to obtain accredited test reports for its new and upcoming innovations.
LG’s SW Testing Laboratory stands as the first manufacturer-operated testing facility in South Korea to receive KOLAS’ internationally recognized software testing accreditation.

LG has integrated its advanced cybersecurity protocols and solutions to safeguard network-connected products as well as any customer data that is shared or stored. Furthermore, LG is amplifying the deployment of “LG Shield,” its sophisticated AI-driven security system, across its expanding range of AI-enabled products.
LG Shield proactively defends products, software platforms, and user data through a suite of advanced methodologies and technologies. Key features of LG Shield include data leakage prevention through the encryption of sensitive information, alongside secure storage of encryption keys within isolated digital environments.
“We will continue to strengthen our cybersecurity capabilities to meet the latest global cybersecurity regulations and improve our software competitiveness,” said Park In-sung, head of the Software Center at LG Electronics.
