Cybercriminals use AI to generate phishing emails, deepfakes, and malicious code to launch cyberattacks. Lenovo research revealed that 65% of IT leaders believe their security systems are outdated and can’t handle AI-powered cyberattacks. Only 31% feel sure they can defend against these threats.
These findings come from Lenovo’s latest report about improving how we work today.
AI is becoming a double-edged sword in cybersecurity. On one hand, AI helps organizations detect threats faster and strengthen defenses, but on the other, cybercriminals are also leveraging AI to launch more sophisticated, automated, and harder-to-detect attacks.
This highlights the urgent need for businesses to use AI-powered strategies to defend against attacks that can learn and change quickly.
“AI has changed how power works in cybersecurity. To keep pace, organizations need smart defenses that can adapt just as quickly as the threats do. This means using AI to fight AI,” said Rakshit Ghura, Vice President and General Manager at Lenovo Digital Workplace Solutions. “With smart and flexible defenses, IT leaders can protect their employees, assets, and data while also using AI to help their businesses grow.”
Some key points from Lenovo’s findings:
- AI-powered attacks are on the rise: Cybercriminals use AI to generate convincing phishing emails, deepfakes, and malicious code at scale.
- Business leaders are concerned: Many executives fear they’re unprepared to deal with AI-enabled threats, especially as attacks get faster and more complex.
- Security gap is widening: While companies are investing in AI-driven defense tools, attackers are innovating just as quickly, making it an ongoing race.
- Human + AI defense is crucial: Lenovo stresses that businesses can’t rely on technology alone, they need skilled people, AI-driven monitoring, and strong security cultures.
The rise of AI has made it easier for cybercriminals to launch fast and advanced attacks. Modern AI threats can act like real people, change to avoid detection, and target different areas like cloud, computers, applications, and data storage.
