Rubrik, a cybersecurity firm, is teaming up with Sophos, a leader in security solutions, to create a new service Sophos Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik. This is the first solution designed to help protect and recover Microsoft 365 data within Sophos Central, which is Sophos’ security management platform.
This will help IT and cybersecurity teams better defend against threats like ransomware, account breaches, insider threats, and data loss in applications like SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams.
Joe Levy, the CEO of Sophos, said, “Combining Sophos’ prevention-first approach with Rubrik’s strong recovery capabilities will help businesses survive attacks and maintain their operations.”
Sophos will offer this new solution to its more than 75,000 customers in Managed Detection and Response (MDR) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR). It will allow quick and secure recovery of important Microsoft 365 information if it is accidentally deleted or attacked. This solution uses Rubrik’s top-notch protection and works seamlessly within the trusted Sophos Central platform, giving organizations the chance to improve their security with effective recovery options. Sophos Central can combine data from over 350 different sources, helping to detect and respond to threats across various areas, increasing defense effectiveness.
Bipul Sinha, the CEO and Co-founder of Rubrik, mentioned, “Today’s threat landscape needs a complete approach to cyber resilience. As attacks using AI and sophisticated methods increase, organizations need to do more than just prevent attacks; they must be able to recover quickly and reliably. Our partnership with Sophos brings this important recovery capability right into a platform that security teams already know and trust, improving Microsoft 365 protection.”
The Evolving Threat Landscape: A report by Sophos shows that nearly half of the organizations that faced ransomware attacks chose to pay the ransom to get their data back. However, only 54% of these companies used backups to restore their data, indicating a gap in effective cyber resilience practices.
