Pantone, a world leader in color and a digital solutions provider for the design community, is working with Microsoft Corp. to help creative professionals and designers use artificial intelligence (AI) to improve their work. On Wednesday, Pantone introduced a test version of the Pantone Palette Generator. This new tool, powered by Microsoft Azure OpenAI, brings Pantone’s knowledge of color psychology and trend forecasting into an easy-to-use, interactive experience within Pantone Connect.
The Pantone Palette Generator is a chat-based tool inside Pantone Connect, Pantone’s digital platform for designers. It helps make color choices and communication easier. This tool helps users quickly find ideas and inspiration by exploring color palettes, using trend data, and creating design ideas within Pantone Connect. With this tool, designers can make color palettes using thousands of colors from Pantone’s large color library in just seconds.
Sky Kelley, president, Pantone, said, “By collaborating with Microsoft, we wanted to create a tool that helps jumpstart the research, discovery and inspiration phase of the design process, allowing designers to integrate color and trend data efficiently as they bring their visions to life.”
The Palette Generator is now available for Pantone Connect users. It can quickly create color palettes based on what the user asks for and shows the trend research that supports the tool. The Palette Generator uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation and advanced technology to search Pantone’s Color Insider and trend articles, giving users palettes based on insights from the Pantone Color Institute. During the test phase, all Pantone Connect users, including those with free accounts, can use the Palette Generator.
“Pantone is showing how AI can lead the way and change the design industry, which has long focused on physical materials,” said Kathleen Mitford, corporate vice president of Global Industry Marketing at Microsoft. “Together, we are making design work faster with Azure OpenAI, and showing how AI can help people be more creative, productive, and innovative in every industry.”
