MediaTek today announced two new additions to its Dimensity chipset portfolio: the Dimensity 9500s and Dimensity 8500. This latest duo aims focus on delivering outstanding performance, efficiency, AI, imaging, gaming, and wireless connectivity, driving new momentum into the flagship and premium smartphone segments.
In the words of JC Hsu, corporate senior vice president and general manager of the Wireless Communications Business Unit at MediaTek, “As leaders in the global smartphone market share, we are dedicated to amplifying our investments in advanced technologies. Our goal is to make pioneering products accessible to a wider audience. This mission is evident in this pair of Dimensity chipsets, which are intended to provide more flagship and premium smartphone experiences while upholding our vision in bringing the best possible performance and power efficiency to more people.”
Mediatek’s Dimensity 9500s are built on an advanced 3 nm TSMC process. It empowers devices to fully unleash powerful performance while improving energy efficiency. The octa-core CPU architecture features one Cortex-X925 ultra-core clocked at an impressive 3.73GHz, supplemented by three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores.
It supports advanced ray tracing and energy-efficient performance enhancements. The chipset also incorporates a robust Neural Processing Unit (NPU) optimised for on-device AI tasks, such as image processing and generative AI, enhancing camera workflows, content creation, and intelligent user experiences.
Complementing this flagship-class silicon, the Dimensity 8500 brings a powerful yet efficient design to premium smartphone segments. Manufactured on a 4 nm process, it adopts an all-big-core configuration of Cortex-A725 cores and a Mali-G720 GPU, delivering a reported 25 per cent uplift in peak graphics performance and about 20 percent lower power consumption compared with its predecessor.
The Dimensity 8500 offers stable frame rates, rapid loading times, and high energy efficiency. Also introduces ray tracing capabilities to popular mobile games, significantly enriching the visual experience and immersion.
