26 December 2025: MediaTek announced today that it is working with DENSO Corporation to create custom automotive System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and in-vehicle cockpit platforms.
This partnership aims to meet the industry’s need for powerful, safe, and scalable computing platforms that support intelligent and automated vehicle features.
The goal is to develop a production-ready SoC architecture that fulfils global automakers’ requirements and Tier-1 suppliers’ needs for strong ADAS performance in different types of vehicles.
Three Pillars of Innovation
- Automotive-Grade Safety and Reliability: With DENSO’s experience in automotive safety and system integration, the custom SoC is designed to meet ISO 26262 functional safety standards at ASIL-B/D levels. It will also achieve AEC-Q100 qualification.
- AI-Driven Compute and Perception. MediaTek will provide its advanced compute architecture, which includes dedicated neural processing units (NPUs) and image signal processing (ISP) pipelines. The platform is built for multi-sensor fusion, combining camera, radar, and lidar inputs.
- Accelerated Development and Deployment. To help automotive designers get solutions to market faster, the team will provide pre-validated automotive-grade IP, safety documentation, reference designs, and development tools that follow ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR standards.
Why the MediaTek and DENSO Collaboration Matters
The automotive industry is shifting toward more automation and digital cockpit features. Achieving this needs SoCs that balance performance, power efficiency, and safety, while handling multi-sensor data and real-time AI. The MediaTek and DENSO partnership brings together semiconductor design and automotive systems expertise in one platform for mainstream production.
“By uniting two of the industry’s most innovative forces, we are empowering automakers and integrators to meet—and exceed—the toughest global requirements for safety, energy efficiency, and intelligent perception,” said Dr Mike Chang, Corporate Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Business at MediaTek. “Our expanding portfolio of advanced technologies is set to redefine the automotive landscape for customers worldwide.”
Key technical highlights of the platform include
AEC-Q100 qualification, AUTOSAR compatibility, and advanced automotive networking (TSN, CAN FD, LIN)
Heterogeneous compute architecture with dedicated AI/NPU accelerators and next-generation ISP
Support for multi-camera MIPI CSI-2, sensor fusion across camera, radar, and lidar, advanced ISP, ECC, and OTA capabilities
Through this partnership, MediaTek and DENSO aim to advance intelligent mobility and support the global adoption of advanced driver-assistance technologies.
