Fujitsu Limited has announced the release of its Millimeter-Wave Monitoring System. This system will be available in Japan starting June 16. It helps to monitor safety in places where using cameras is not suitable due to privacy concerns, such as care homes, assisted living facilities, and accessible toilets.
The system utilizes specialized technology to monitor how people move, including subtle signals from breathing and body movements. It utilizes Fujitsu’s unique artificial intelligence (AI) to identify issues, such as changes in breathing or unusual body movements, which are difficult to detect with conventional motion detection methods. The system works automatically, providing 24-hour monitoring, which is especially helpful at night and in the early morning when staff numbers are lower.
The system does not record videos or gather any personal information. The system features an alert function to enable quick responses in emergencies. It can send alerts if someone falls and doesn’t get up, if a person stays in one place for too long, or if there are issues during sleep, like breathing problems. Notifications can be sent to specific individuals, ensuring that the right people receive the information promptly, which helps keep everyone safe.
