Europe’s technology landscape just gained a fresh pulse of strategic confidence today, as industry heavyweight Capgemini unveiled its suite of sovereign-ready cloud and AI solutions on the newly launched AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
Under the collaboration, Capgemini will design and implement sovereign aligned cloud strategies tailored to the unique regulatory and operational profiles of individual organisations. With a structured, risk-aware methodology, enterprises can now evaluate their sovereignty needs before designing architectures or choosing operating models, an inversion of the traditional, reactive approach to technology transformation.
Speaking about the initiative, Stéphane Israël, General Manager of the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, stressed how this ecosystem approach combines sovereignty with innovation: “The AWS European Sovereign Cloud is designed to support clients with the highest sovereignty needs, while giving them access to AWS’s continuous innovation. Capgemini brings deep industry expertise that is invaluable to support clients’ AI-led business transformation.”
Fernando Alvarez, Chief Strategy and Development Officer and Group Executive Board Member at Capgemini, “As regulatory expectations evolve, organisations need the confidence to innovate with full control over their data and operations. With Capgemini’s experience in secure cloud architectures for AI, governance, and managed services, we are well positioned to help clients navigate this rapidly evolving landscape.”
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud itself is a major investment in Europe’s digital autonomy, a cloud infrastructure physically and legally anchored within the EU that provides complete data residency, isolation, and operations governed by European law. It expands customer choice alongside existing AWS regions, allowing enterprises to meet stringent local requirements without compromising access to the broad AWS service portfolio, including AI and compute capabilities.
For Capgemini, this is the latest chapter in a long-standing partnership with AWS, spanning nearly two decades of secure transformation and innovation. The company’s role in helping clients modernise mission-critical workloads, from financial services to healthcare and public sector entities, positions it as a key enabler in Europe’s march toward sovereign digital infrastructure.
