Apple announces that Sabih Khan will succeed Jeff Williams as Chief Operating Officer (COO) later this month. This transition has been planned for a long time.
Tim Cook praised Jeff Williams, saying they have worked together for many years and that Apple would not be the same without him. He highlighted Jeff’s major achievements, including building a robust supply chain, launching the Apple Watch, contributing to Apple’s health strategy, and leading the design team with compassion.
Tim Cook also spoke about Sabih Khan, calling him a talented strategist. Sabih has been with Apple for 30 years and has played a major role in advancing Apple’s supply chain. He has been helpful in creating new technologies, expanding manufacturing in the United States, and making sure Apple can respond quickly to global challenges. Sabih has also worked hard on environmental sustainability, reducing Apple’s carbon footprint significantly. Cook believes Sabih will be an excellent COO because he leads with his heart and values.
Khan has been at Apple for 30 years and joined Apple’s executive team as Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019. In his six years in this role, he has ensured that Apple’s products are of high quality and has overseen numerous key functions, including planning, purchasing, and logistics. His team also ensures that workers in production facilities are treated well and receive proper training.
Sabih Khan is an Indian-American business executive. He oversees Apple’s global supply chain and is responsible for Apple’s supplier responsibility programs. Before joining Apple in 1995, Sabih Khan worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and technical leader. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics and mechanical engineering from Tufts University and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
In his farewell message, Jeff Williams expressed his love for Apple and his gratitude towards Tim for their friendship and inspirational leadership over the years.
He noted that June marked his 27 years with Apple and his 40 years in the industry. After he retires, he plans to spend more time with friends and his growing family, including five grandchildren. He has worked closely with Sabih for 27 years and trusts him completely to lead Apple in the future.
