Airtel has launched a new solution that helps its customers find and block harmful links and websites on all communication apps and platforms. This includes emails, web browsers, and apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, Instagram, and even SMS messages. This service will be automatically available for all Airtel mobile and broadband customers at no extra cost.
If a customer tries to visit a website and Airtel’s security system marks it as dangerous, the page will not load, and a warning message will appear explaining why the site is blocked.
Online scams are becoming a major problem for people as digital platforms are becoming necessary to access services. Many recent reports show that individuals have been tricked by online scams that are becoming complex than just fake OTP messages and misleading phone calls. To address this serious issue, Airtel has created an advanced security system powered by AI.
This system will help protect customers from various scams by filtering out harmful websites across all platforms.
Commenting on the initiative, Gopal Vittal, Vice Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel, said, “Over the last few years, we have come across several instances where ingenious criminals have defrauded unsuspecting customers of their hard-earned money. Our engineers have tried to solve this problem through the launch of our Fraud Detection Solution. We believe this will provide our customers with total peace of mind while browsing the internet without the worry of getting scammed. Our AI-based tool scans internet traffic, checks with global repositories and our own database of threat actors in real-time, and blocks fraudulent websites. Our solution has already reached a remarkable level of accuracy in the 6 months of trials. We will continue working relentlessly until we have made our networks completely safe from spam and scams.”
