Accenture has agreed to buy the Integrated Product Support (IPS) business from SIPAL in Italy. This acquisition will enable Accenture to enhance its engineering services for customers in the aerospace and defense industries across Italy and Europe.
SIPAL’s IPS business in Italy provides engineering support to ensure that complex products and systems, such as airplanes, land vehicles, and naval ships, function properly throughout their entire life cycle. They support important aerospace and defense organizations and are involved in various national and European defense projects.
The part of SIPAL that Accenture wants to buy also provides services in product engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing support, and training. It has its main office in Turin and several other offices across Italy.
With this new addition, Accenture will be able to better assist organizations in Italy and Europe in creating advanced software-based solutions and integrated systems for military vehicles, aerostructures, and naval vessels. After the acquisition is completed, approximately 250 engineering professionals from SIPAL’s IPS team will join Accenture’s services, focusing on digital engineering, manufacturing, and infrastructure projects, commonly referred to as Industry X.
Teodoro Lio, who leads Accenture in Italy, said: “By acquiring SIPAL’s IPS business, we show our commitment to investing in Italian excellence and supporting important sectors in the country. Combining SIPAL’s specialized knowledge in defense engineering with our expertise in product engineering, digital technology, data, and AI will create strong capabilities to drive innovation in these industries both in Italy and across Europe.”
Ignazio Dogliani, the CEO of SIPAL, shared: “Today, we at SIPAL welcome the news of our IPS area being acquired by Accenture, a strong global company with deep connections in Italy and Europe. We believe this is a new beginning for growth, offering even more value to our clients and allowing our IPS team to reach a wider and more international market.”
