Ericsson today announced a strategic partnership with LotusFlare, along with a minority-equity investment in the company, to jointly accelerate telecom operators’ adoption and monetisation of network Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
LotusFlare is based in Santa Clara, California, and was founded in 2014. The company has 500 employees worldwide. The partnership builds on LotusFlare’s cloud-native platform, LotusFlare DNO Cloud, which provides the necessary backend for API monetisation, consent management, billing, API marketplaces, and developer-facing infrastructure.
These solutions enhance Ericsson’s position as a leader in the industry and complement their wide range of solutions for Communication Service Providers (CSPs) to monetize advanced network capabilities via APIs.
Under the agreement, Ericsson and LotusFlare will offer ready-made “solution blueprints” for a “Network API Exposure Layer,” describing typical integration scenarios including API access, consent management, and digital-commerce workflows that simplify how operators expose their network capabilities to developers and enterprises.
Niklas Heuveldop, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform, as well as CEO of Vonage, stated: “We are very pleased to establish this strategic partnership with LotusFlare. By combining Ericsson’s high-performance, programmable networks with LotusFlare’s capabilities and Vonage’s enterprise solutions, we will help CSPs unlock new network features and seize one of the most significant opportunities for value creation in the industry. This partnership will strengthen the industry ecosystem, enabling CSPs, businesses, and developers to work together and innovate on a larger scale, taking full advantage of 5G and AI.”
Sam Gadodia, CEO and Co-Founder of LotusFlare, said, “We welcome Ericsson as an investor in LotusFlare. Since we started, our goal has been to simplify technology and improve customer experience. We have made great strides towards this objective through our DNO Cloud and Nomad eSIM businesses. Ericsson’s investment validates our product innovation and market presence. We are confident that this partnership will open new market opportunities and enhance the development of vital network asset monetization capabilities for CSPs around the world.”
