Apple introduced an upgraded 14-inch MacBook Pro, now powered by the new M5 chip. The announcement frames this as a major step forward in enabling on-device AI workflows, while improving overall performance, efficiency, and user experience.
For users who straddle creative, development, and AI tasks, this MacBook Pro could be a compelling package.
AI Performance Takes Center Stage
The M5 integrates a next-generation GPU, embedding a Neural Accelerator in each core, enabling Apple to claim up to 3.5× faster AI performance over the prior M4 generation. In addition, Apple promises up to 1.6× faster graphics performance in pro applications and higher frame rates in games compared to the M4 model. The Neural Engine is also improved, helping accelerate inference, LLMs, generative models, and AI-powered features in macOS and apps.
CPU, Memory & Storage Upgrades
The M5 chip doesn’t just add AI powers; it also includes a more efficient and capable CPU and higher memory bandwidth. It boosts everything from launching apps to running large language models (LLMs) on a MacBook. Pro. It makes multitasking, creative workflows, and operating heavy compute tasks easy.
Unified memory bandwidth jumps to 153 GB/s, a ~30 % uplift over the M4’s bandwidth. Apple has also improved SSD performance, with claims of up to 2× faster storage than before. The MacBook Pro now offers up to 4 TB of SSD storage.
Battery & Efficiency
Apple retains the impressive “up to 24 hours” battery promise for the 14-inch model, making it viable for extended use without plugging in.
The external design, ports, display, speakers, and camera remain largely unchanged from the prior 14-inch model.
You’ll find the same Liquid Retina XDR display with optional nano-texture, up to six speakers, a 12 MP Center Stage camera, and robust I/O (Thunderbolt, HDMI, etc.).
It ships with macOS Tahoe, which includes deeper integration with Apple Intelligence (Apple’s AI/ML features across the OS) to exploit the enhanced hardware.
Pricing & Availability
The upgraded MacBook Pro with M5 chip starts at INR 1,69,900, the same price as the prior generation’s base model. It is available in space black and silver colours. Preorders are open, with units shipping and arriving from October 22, 2025.
