Broadcom has announced that it is now shipping the Tomahawk® 6 – Davisson (TH6-Davisson), a new type of Ethernet switch. This is the company’s third version of a Co-Packaged Optics (CPO).
The TH6-Davisson is designed to meet the growing needs of AI (Artificial Intelligence) networking, featuring an impressive switching capacity of 102.4 terabits per second. This is double the speed of any other CPO switch available today, making it a big improvement for data centers.
The TH6-Davisson is built on Broadcom’s foundation of CPO innovation. It not only offers more speed but also enhances power efficiency and stability, which are essential for connecting different parts of AI systems.
Near Margalit, a Vice President at Broadcom, said, “By making connections more stable and using less energy, we can help make AI training faster and cheaper. This switch allows us to build larger AI systems by improving how well they work together.”
