Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, a leading company in cybersecurity solutions, announced the acquisition of Lakera, an AI-security startup focused on “agentic” AI (i.e. AI agents, LLMs, workflows, etc.).
This acquisition means Check Point will offer a complete security system designed to protect businesses as they start using more AI technology.
“AI is changing how companies work, but it also creates new risks,” said Nadav Zafrir, the CEO of Check Point Software Technologies. “We chose Lakera because it offers excellent security that works quickly and efficiently. Together, we will help businesses safely use AI.”
“Lakera was created for the AI age, focusing on real-time security,” said David Haber, Co-Founder and CEO of Lakera. “By joining Check Point, we can grow and help more people worldwide. Together, we will protect AI tools and applications with the speed and accuracy that businesses need to trust AI.”
Lakera was founded by experts who worked at Google and Meta. It was developed specifically for AI systems and has research centers in Zurich and San Francisco. Its main products, Lakera Red and Lakera Guard, help companies assess their security before using AI and provide ongoing protection for AI models and tools. Lakera combines advanced security with continuous testing to stay ahead of new threats, giving businesses confidence to use AI safely.
The cost of acquiring Lakera is approximately USD 300M, although this figure is not confirmed.
Once the acquisition is complete, Lakera will become part of Check Point’s Global Center of Excellence for AI Security. The deal is expected to be finalized in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending standard closing conditions.
