Bharti Airtel and Ericsson have strengthened their long-term partnership with a new agreement to help Bharti Airtel launch Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) services in India. This new development will improve Airtel’s network capabilities, making it easier and better for customers using their FWA services.
As part of this agreement, Ericsson is bringing in a new system designed for high-capacity FWA that takes up less space and costs less to operate. This solution builds on a previous partnership between Ericsson and Airtel, where they created a modern network infrastructure that supports Airtel’s move to 5G Standalone (SA).
Randeep Sekhon, the Chief Technology Officer of Bharti Airtel, said, “Ericsson’s new technology will help us provide better network quality and reliability. This upgrade is made to handle the growing needs of our customers, ensuring strong performance and smooth connectivity, even during busy times. This rollout is another step in our successful teamwork with Ericsson, showing our ability to use advanced technology to improve customer experiences.”
Andres Vicente, who leads Ericsson in Southeast Asia, Oceania, and India, said: “We are excited to continue our journey of technological leadership with Airtel by helping them take their next step in 5G services through FWA. Ericsson’s Local Packet Gateway (LPG) is designed to deliver great performance efficiently, making it perfect for supporting Airtel’s 5G goals. This partnership is not just about new technology; it’s also about helping more people get connected and reducing the digital gap in India.”
