Ericsson has announced the launch of two high-performance antennas tailored for mission-critical applications. Unveiled at the Critical Communications World (CCW) event in Brussels, Belgium, the Antenna 1005 and Antenna 1006 are designed to meet the specific needs of Public Protection and Disaster Relief (PPDR) networks, providing secure and reliable coverage where it’s needed most.
Purpose-built to meet the requirements of emergency services and first responders, these antennas support continuous operations, high availability, and long-term network reliability. Both models are optimized for public safety spectrum bands B68 and B28, with 2T2R low-band support, high electrical efficiency, and best-in-class low-band coverage. These features make the antennas ideal for deployment in suburban and rural areas, where coverage, signal penetration, and reach are crucial for maintaining reliable communication across diverse and expansive terrains.
“At Ericsson Antenna System, we design and deliver antennas that meet the highest demands of mission-critical communication,” says Mikael Eriksson, Head of Ericsson Antenna System. “Backed by our proven reliability, dedicated R&D, and long-standing focus on high-performing networks, these new antennas are purpose-built to provide the security, performance, and operational efficiency that public safety networks depend on while supporting faster deployment and lower total cost of ownership.”
The new antennas offer robust design and advanced electrical performance for broader coverage and reliability in demanding environments. Designed for sustainability and security, they enable efficient deployment. They use Remote Electrical Tilt (RET) and the Antenna Monitoring Unit (AMU) for secure, real-time network optimization.
The Antenna 1005, with its 2.1-meter form, is ideal for suburban areas due to its compact size, easing site deployment. The Antenna 1006 offers greater reach for rural areas, with high performance and durability.
These antennas form part of Ericsson’s broader showcase at CCW, which highlights the company’s vision for next-generation mission-critical networks. With growing digitalization demands from public safety, defense, rail, utilities, and digital airspace operations, Ericsson’s products and solutions enable governments and critical industries to modernize legacy systems and improve operational effectiveness.
