Tech Mahindra announced a partnership with the Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH (DFKI), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence.
The goal of this collaboration is to innovate and create advanced smart factory solutions. The two organisations will develop scalable, secure, and practical AI solutions that will transform digital operations for manufacturing companies in Germany.
This partnership will bring Tech Mahindra’s expertise in applied innovation and industry knowledge with DFKI’s top-tier research capabilities. Their joint efforts will focus on developing responsible and human-centred AI solutions for the manufacturing field.
They will explore research and development in various areas, including Generative AI, robotics, human-machine interaction, digital twins, semantic data models, sustainable production systems, and agentic AI. Additionally, they will examine skill-based manufacturing and networked ecosystems, laying the groundwork for the factories of the future.
Harshul Asnani, President and Head of European Business at Tech Mahindra, stated, “As manufacturing enters a time when AI and robotics will influence competitiveness, our partnership with DFKI shows our dedication to creating the next generation of adaptive, AI-powered manufacturing environments. Together, we aim to connect research with real-world applications, helping our customers enhance their value chains while ensuring that all innovations are ethical, sustainable, and centred around people.”
Through this collaboration, Tech Mahindra will enhance its research and development efforts in Germany, increase its contributions to European manufacturing clients, and access additional client networks. DFKI will assist in integrating its AI technologies into Tech Mahindra’s Manufacturing Experience Centre and customer projects, facilitating the application of research in practical industrial settings.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Ruskowski, Head of the Research Department for Innovative Factory Systems at DFKI, remarked, “The important partnership between DFKI and Tech Mahindra will elevate production to a higher level of value through agentic AI. Next-generation robots will become more efficient through intelligent software and will be able to work more closely with their human coworkers.”
