Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), one of India’s largest IT services firms, has entered into a strategic collaboration with GitLab Inc., the provider of an integrated DevSecOps platform, aimed at embedding AI-powered orchestration into enterprise software delivery processes.
The partnership positions the two companies to jointly assist large organizations in accelerating their software engineering and delivery cycles by integrating “agentic” artificial intelligence automation across the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
At the core of the initiative is the implementation of GitLab’s Duo Agent Platform, an orchestration layer that enables multiple AI agents to operate across planning, coding, testing, security, and deployment phases. According to company statements, the platform supports foundational pre-built agents, custom agents tailored to client needs, agentic chat interfaces, and integrations with external AI tools.
From TCS’ side, the partnership will involve creating industry-specific AI workflow templates and agents designed to address recurring development and automation use cases. The firm will also support customers in modernizing legacy development practices and consolidating disparate DevSecOps toolchains into a unified, automated workflow.
Alex Picker, VP of Global Ecosystems, GitLab, said, “TCS brings extensive industry experience and global scale that enterprises need to maximize the value of GitLab Duo Agent Platform at scale. Together, we’re enabling joint customers to transform how they build and deliver software, orchestrating AI agents across the entire software development lifecycle with the governance, security, and support that enterprises require.”
Ashok Krish, Head – AI Practice, TCS said, “Our strategic partnership with GitLab is aimed at making AI real for enterprises. It enables us to bring AI-Native DevSecOps capabilities to our clients. This is particularly crucial as enterprises navigate the imperative of AI-led rapid software development while maintaining reliability, security and compliance.”
The announcement comes amid a broader wave of AI partnerships in the enterprise software sector. TCS itself has been active in forming alliances around AI and automation with other technology vendors this quarter.
