Tata Power and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) have teamed up to help prepare workers and improve skills in India’s power sector. They mainly focus on green jobs and skills related to power transmission and distribution to help people get jobs.
As part of this partnership, the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI), created by Tata Power, will be NSDC’s Training Partner. Training programs will cover important areas like green energy, power transmission, power distribution, and workplace safety. The courses will also be updated to meet the changing needs of clean energy jobs, helping students be ready for the future.
The partnership will also introduce new training areas like energy storage, green hydrogen, and pumped hydro, which are important for India’s growing green energy sector. These training programs will help build a strong workforce and accelerate the shift to clean energy in the country.
The agreement was officially signed at TPSDI-Shahad during the Institute’s Annual Meet. Nitin Kapoor from NSDC Academy and Alok Prasad from TPSDI signed the agreement, along with important guests such as Himal Tewari from Tata Power, Varun Batra from NSDC Academy, and Sachin Mujumdar from South East UP Power Transmission Company Limited, a Tata Power company. All the speakers stressed the importance of skill development, empowering youth, and inclusive training programs, saying these are crucial for building the nation and promoting sustainable growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Himal Tewari, CHRO, Chief – Sustainability & CSR, Tata Power, said: “We deeply value our partnership with NSDC, which reinforces our shared commitment to building a future-ready workforce for India’s rapidly transforming energy sector. Tata Power has always believed that human capital development is central to nation-building. Going forward, we aim to significantly expand TPSDI’s footprint by establishing more centers beyond our current network of eleven. Through this, we will further strengthen India’s green energy talent ecosystem and contribute meaningfully to the national vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
Nitin Kapoor, Vice President of NSDC Academy, echoed the sentiment: “This partnership with TPSDI and Tata Power is a significant milestone for Skill India. We admire TPSDI’s legacy in capacity building, inclusive skilling, and employability enhancement. Skilling is no longer a luxury but a necessity, and TPSDI’s commitment will help industry professionals continuously upskill and reskill in a rapidly transforming power landscape. The strength of the Tata brand and this partnership will accelerate India’s goal of creating a digitally enabled, energy-smart workforce.”
