NVIDIA and Intel Forge Partnership to Jointly Develop AI Infrastructure and Personal Computing Products

NVIDIA and Intel

NVIDIA and Intel Corporation announced a partnership to develop new products for data centres and personal computers. These products will help make applications and workloads faster and more efficient for businesses and consumers.

The partnership will focus on connecting NVIDIA and Intel technologies using a system NVIDIA NVLink. This will combine NVIDIA’s strengths in artificial intelligence (AI) and fast computing with Intel’s powerful CPUs (the brain of computers) and x86 technology to provide advanced solutions for their customers.

For data centres, Intel will create special x86 CPUs that are designed for NVIDIA. NVIDIA will then use these CPUs in its AI systems and sell them to the market.

For personal computers, Intel will develop x86 system-on-chips (SOCs) that include NVIDIA’s RTX GPU chiplets. These new SOCs will be used in various PCs that need high-quality CPUs and GPUs.

Additionally, NVIDIA will invest $5 billion in Intel, buying shares at a price of $23.28 each. This deal will go ahead after the usual checks and regulatory approvals.

“AI is changing the way we think about technology and how we use it, from hardware to software,” said Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA. “This partnership connects NVIDIA’s AI technology with Intel’s CPUs, creating a strong foundation for the next era of computing.”

“Intel’s x86 technology has been important in computing for many years, and we are working hard to support future needs,” said Lip-Bu Tan, CEO of Intel. “By combining Intel’s strong platforms for data centres and personal computing with NVIDIA’s AI leadership, we can achieve exciting new advancements. We are grateful for NVIDIA’s trust in us through their investment, and we look forward to partnering with them to innovate and grow our businesses.”
