HCLTech, a leading global IT company from India, has agreed to acquire the Telco Solutions business from Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). The deal is worth about $160 million (around ₹1,440 crore). This purchase will help HCLTech grow its services in telecom engineering and artificial intelligence (AI) driven network solutions.
The acquisition, expected to close within six months subject to customary regulatory approvals. With this acquisition, HCLTech will gain important technology rights, skilled engineers, research and development abilities, and strong relationships with major global telecom companies
The Telco Solutions portfolio supports more than one billion devices in over 200 deployments worldwide and encompasses critical technologies including Operations Support Systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS) and 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM), enhanced by advanced AI-driven network automation.
The Telco Solutions business supports over one billion devices in more than 200 locations worldwide. It includes important technologies like Operations Support Systems (OSS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), and 5G Subscriber Data Management (SDM), all improved with new AI features for network automation.
The Telco Solutions business was previously part of HPE’s Communications Technology Group (CTG). In 2024, HCLTech bought some parts of CTG, including tools for business support, network applications, cloud services, and data analytics. These have now been combined into HCLTech’s business and are showing good results.
This new deal adds to HCLTech’s earlier purchase from HPE’s CTG in 2024, which already made its support systems, network tools, cloud services, and data analysis stronger.
HCLTech plans to use these new resources to speed up network transformation, offer Network as a Service (NaaS), and develop smarter, AI-based networks. Nearly 1,500 engineers and telecom experts from 39 countries will join HCLTech’s team to support this growth.
“We are very excited about this opportunity. HCLTech is in a strong position to help communication service providers (CSPs) become technology companies,” said Anil Ganjoo, chief growth officer and global head of telecom, media, publishing & entertainment and technology (TMT) at HCLTech. “Adding the skilled HPE team and their proven technology will make our services better and help us grow in new ways.”
“HCLTech has a strong vision to help CSPs. By joining with the Telco Solutions business, they can make even more improvements and help customers even more,” said Rami Rahim, executive vice president and general manager of Networking at HPE. “This deal will help CSPs for many years, as both HPE and HCLTech continue to support the telecom industry with new ideas and a strong focus.”
