Ericsson and SoftBank have signed an MoU to form a new partnership. This agreement focuses on evaluating, promoting, and co-creating ‘NextWave Tech’, which encompasses advancing technologies to the next stage, including AI, Cloud RAN (Radio Access Network), XR (Extended Reality), and 6G. This collaboration will explore new ways to use these technologies and improve cellular networks.
Ericsson and SoftBank plan to invest in bringing these technologies to life, which can lead to growth and make things more cost-effective. Together, they will create plans for future networks to ensure their work aligns with their long-term goals and helps them lead the industry.
Ericsson and SoftBank will also strengthen their partnership in several important areas, such as: – Checking how ready Cloud RAN is for business usage with AI technology. – Creating better network designs for new uses like XR. – Finding new ways to use radio waves by combining sensing and communication. – Using centimeter Wave technologies to make Japan a leader in 6G.
