Zurich, Switzerland, October 21, 2025. Today, Chipmind, a European startup, announced the launch of Chipmind Agents to help engineering teams in semiconductor companies work faster, from the early stages of chip design to actual chip manufacturing.

Chipmind Agents are a type of AI (artificial intelligence) designed to automate and improve the complicated tasks of chip design and checking. They utilise each customer’s unique data, making them a good fit for the current workflows. They can adapt to different design needs, customize themselves for special tools, and understand how all parts of the chip design connect.

“In the semiconductor industry, customizing tools and keeping data safe are very important, but understanding the design is what makes a good tool into a helpful partner,” said Harald Kröll, Co-Founder and CEO of Chipmind. “Every company’s chip has its own complex structure and unique requirements, surrounded by specific tools and processes.”

Chipmind is the first startup in Europe focused on AI for chip design and checking. Its founders, Harald Kröll and Sandro Belfanti, built a strong partnership during their PhD studies at ETH Zurich. Both have experience in AI and chip design, with a portfolio that includes more than 20 chips for mobile phones and system-on-chip solutions.

“Anyone who has worked in chip development knows that much of the work is repetitive and takes a lot of time. It needs precision but not much creativity,” said Sandro Belfanti, Co-Founder and CTO of Chipmind. “Throughout my career in top semiconductor companies, I often wished for a solution that could handle those boring tasks so I could focus on real engineering problems. With Chipmind Agents, we are finally making that solution real: AI agents that can take care of the tedious parts, allowing engineers to concentrate on true innovation.”

Chipmind has successfully raised $2.5 million in its early funding round, led by Founderful with help from important investors in the semiconductor industry. This funding will help Chipmind grow its expert engineering team, speed up product development, and strengthen connections with key industry players.

About Chipmind

Chipmind is the first European startup focused on creating AI agents to speed up the development of microchips. By making existing chip design systems and tools ready for AI, Chipmind helps semiconductor companies shorten development times, reduce errors, and encourage innovation. Founded by a team of experts in semiconductor technology and AI, the company is based in Zurich, Switzerland.
