Bharti Airtel and Nokia are expanding their collaboration to make Airtel’s 5G services even better. They will use Nokia’s new technology to help Airtel deliver faster and more reliable internet services to its growing number of customers using 4G and 5G.
The new technology will combine both 5G and 4G services on the same servers, making it easier to manage. Nokia’s Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) will allow Airtel to provide faster internet at home and for businesses. Airtel will also use Nokia’s automated tools to make it easier to launch new services and manage their network, helping them offer better services more quickly while keeping costs low.
With Nokia’s 5G Packet core solution, Airtel will prepare for more advanced 5G services and simplify its network to handle the increasing amount of data being used. This will help Airtel use less hardware and lower costs while keeping the service high-quality.
The rollout covers network automation in a multi-year deal that spans the majority of Airtel’s service regions across the country. The collaboration entails advancing autonomous networks by utilizing GenAI for service orchestration and assurance.
Randeep Sekhon, Airtel’s CTO, said, “Nokia’s innovative Packet Core solution enables critical changes to our network quality to meet the rising growth in customer data requirements. This rollout further demonstrates our longstanding success in jointly collaborating to strengthen the overall Airtel customer experience.”
“Nokia and Airtel have a longstanding partnership and we are pleased to bolster its 5G SA readiness,” said Raghav Sahgal, President of Cloud and Network Services at Nokia.
Nokia’s Packet Core solution for Fixed Wireless Access enables additional capacity for home broadband and enterprise-critical application services, delivering extreme bandwidth and capacity to customers.
Nokia already plays a big role in Airtel’s network by providing various important technologies like VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and others.
