Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the establishment of the new Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region to enhance workload management and data storage capabilities for organizations operating locally and reduce latency for end users by providing regional data centers.
The investment is projected to exceed $5 billion. With this launch, AWS expands its network to include 111 Availability Zones across 35 geographic regions, with plans for 15 additional Availability Zones and five more AWS Regions in Mexico, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and the European Sovereign Cloud.
The three distinct Availability Zones of the Asia Pacific (Thailand) Region ensure business continuity while minimizing latency for high-availability applications. AWS continues to offer an extensive array of services encompassing analytics, computing, database management, IoT, generative AI, machine learning, mobile services, and storage solutions. This delegates a diverse client base, from startups to public sector organizations in Thailand and the Asia Pacific region.
“I would like to extend my appreciation to Amazon Web Services for investing in the development of data centers in Thailand,” said Paetongtarn Shinawatra, prime minister of Thailand. “I am pleased that Thailand’s potential and readiness have been recognized by one of the world’s leading companies. I look forward to AWS playing a pivotal role, in partnership with the government, in advancing Thailand toward a more inclusive digital society and expanding access to digital services for all citizens.”
AWS customers in Thailand and Southeast Asia possess renowned companies such as 2C2P, Ascend Money, Bank of Ayudhya, Big Data Institute, and multiple others leveraging the AWS platform for innovative solutions.
