ABB has announced that it will invest an additional $110 million in the United States in 2025. This investment will help expand research, development, and the production of advanced solutions for electrification.
This investment will create almost 200 new jobs and support growth in major industries like data centers and the power grid. A new production line will be built in Mississippi for ABB’s Emax 3 circuit breakers.
Morten Wierod, ABB’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “This $110 million investment in the US is part of our long-term plan to support growth in our biggest market. Demand is driven by trends such as the rising power needs of AI in data centers and the need for grid modernization. Our investments will help us meet the growing demands of our customers in North America.”
ABB will invest $15 million to set up a new production line for Emax 3 at its facility in Senatobia, Mississippi. The Emax 3 circuit breaker helps make power systems more reliable in large places like data centers and airports. This new line is expected to start in 2026.
In Richmond, Virginia, a $30 million project will double the size of the ABB facility, adding a new testing center, warehouse, and assembly lines. The products made in Richmond are important for data centers, manufacturing plants, and utility services. The new facility will create about 100 new jobs in production and engineering by the end of 2025.
In Arecibo, Puerto Rico, ABB will invest over $30 million to expand its facility for three new production lines. This equipment is essential for industrial and commercial operations in the US. The expansion will create 90 new skilled jobs by the end of 2026.
ABB will also invest $35 million to increase the capacity of its factory in Pinetops, North Carolina. This will help meet the expected demand for advanced electrical components from utilities, data centers, and industrial facilities. The upgrades to this facility are set to open in 2026.
From 2022 to 2024, ABB invested around $500 million in its US operations, including a new $100 million manufacturing facility and innovation center in New Berlin, Wisconsin, and a new $40 million factory in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In March 2025, ABB announced a $120 million investment in its facilities in Selmer, Tennessee ($80 million) and Senatobia, Mississippi ($40 million).
An additional $20 million will also be invested to increase production capacity in Selmer. ABB opened a new $4 million Regional Distribution Center in Dallas, Texas, in August 2025, and spent $4 million to improve customer support at several service facilities.
ABB’s revenue in the US was nearly $9 billion in 2024, making up about 27% of the total revenue for ABB Group. With roughly 17,000 employees across the US, ABB operates near 40 manufacturing, distribution, and service centers in 20 states, including nine major research and development centers. ABB has a presence in all 50 states. Currently, about 75-80% of the revenue that ABB makes in the US comes from products made in the country.
