Qualcomm announced a multi-year strategic collaboration with Google (Alphabet) to pioneer generative AI–driven digital cockpit solutions for the automotive industry. Their new collaboration combines Google Cloud’s Automotive AI Agent, which uses Google’s Gemini models, with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions.
The core objective of the Qualcomm–Google Cloud collaboration is to accelerate the adoption of agentic AI and generative AI in the automotive industry by building a standardized digital cockpit platform that automakers and Tier-1 suppliers can easily adopt. The Automotive AI Agent from Google Cloud enables car makers to rapidly develop intelligent systems that respond in multiple ways.
By merging this agent with Qualcomm’s technology, car manufacturers can design unique AI experiences that go beyond simple commands. These systems will be more interactive and personalized for drivers and passengers.
With this collaboration, car makers can also save time on development by using ready-made solutions for important tasks like navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls.
As Google’s technology improves, these tools will also enhance their capabilities, ensuring that car manufacturers benefit from ongoing advancements in AI. The Automotive AI Agent supports a wide range of AI experiences across Qualcomm’s automotive technology offerings.
“AI will change how car makers provide experiences inside and around the car, making it easier and more personal for everyone,” said Shiv Venkataraman, VP of Applied AI at Google Cloud. “Our partnership with Qualcomm puts car manufacturers in control. Together, we are creating a safe platform that lets them design advanced AI companions that can understand different languages and respond to many types of requests. This is a clear example of how our joint efforts are changing the future of driving.”
“The automotive industry is about to change a lot because of new AI technology and vehicles that rely on software,” said Nakul Duggal, Group General Manager at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “Our cooperation with Google Cloud is a big step in helping car makers provide advanced and personal experiences for their customers. We are excited to combine our strength in automotive technology to help bring new AI experiences to market quickly.”
